To reach Mirror Beach, you can take a bus that regularly runs between Saranda and Butrint. Simply tell the driver to stop at Plazhi i Pasqyrave. From the bus stop, it’s about a 15-minute walk downhill to the beach. You can also drive, but be aware that the final stretch is a rocky, pothole-filled gravel road. So, drive carefully or park early and walk the last part.
What makes this beach so special? It’s quiet and secluded, a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Saranda or Ksamil, which are full of hotels and loud music. Pasqyrave Beach doesn’t offer much in terms of tourist facilities, but there is a bar and a restaurant right on the beach. You can also rent sun loungers with umbrellas, but it’s perfectly fine to spread your own towel on the sand or a rock.
Another highlight of Pasqyrave Beach is that it’s surrounded not only by rocks but also by some rock formations in the water in front of the beach, completing the rugged picture. You can easily swim to the large rock in the turquoise sea (also known as Pasqyrave Island) and climb on it. Behind the rock, you can see Saranda and the impressive mountain landscape.
Above the beach, you’ll also find some concrete bunkers built during the communist era. As in many places along the Albanian coast, these bunkers were used to protect the country from invaders during the Cold War.

The best thing about this beach is that it is not crowded even during the high season. Due to its seclusion, it is a hidden gem for those who want to escape mass tourism. So if you are looking for an untouched natural setting, this is the place for you!
An extraordinary experience at Gjipe Beach is camping. Since wild camping is allowed in Albania, you can set up your tent right on the beach and spend the night under the stars. However, if you prefer a more permanent place to stay, there is also the Gjipe Eco Campingground.

While it can get quite crowded in the summer, the view is priceless! From the beach, you can see the Greek island of Corfu, which is so close that you could almost swim over to it. However, you should note that Pema e Thatë is remote and can only be accessed via a small, partially paved road through the forest from Ksamil or by boat.
At the beach, there are sunbeds and straw umbrellas, as well as nets directly over the water that you can rent. However, the rental for the sunbed nets at 7,000 Lek per day seems a bit pricey to us. If you’re hungry or thirsty, you can get something to eat or drink at one of the bars, the restaurant, or the pizzeria. Toilets and changing rooms are also available.
And if you want to experience more, there are also some boats on the beach offering trips to nearby places like hidden coves or Ali Pasha’s Castle. Overall, Pema e Thatë is a beautiful spot perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature.

And if you’re hungry, you should definitely try Restaurant Kapiteni, which serves creative fish dishes.
In addition to sunbathing and swimming, there are many other activities you can try at Jala Beach. For example, you can rent water sports equipment or even take an introductory diving course. However, the beach is quite remote and best reached by car. There are buses that stop on the main road SH8, but you would then need to walk about five kilometers to reach the beach.

To reach Shpella e Pëllumbave, follow Rruga Butrinti between Saranda and Ksamil, and then turn off at the sign for Mirror Beach (Plazhi i Pasqyrave). Simply follow the road until you see the sign for Shpella e Pëllumbave, where you need to turn left. The road leading to the beach is unpaved and challenging, so drive carefully. Once you reach the end of the road, you must pay a 300 LEK parking fee and descend some rocky steps and a steep ladder to reach the beach. But it’s definitely worth it once you get there!
At Shpella e Pëllumbave Beach, it is quieter than elsewhere because no jet skis are rented.

But why should you visit this beach? Well, Aquarium Beach is completely undeveloped and untouched by tourism. There are no umbrellas or loungers, no restaurant or sports rentals—just a beautiful small beach hidden in a tiny protected cove. The water here is absolutely incredible—calm, clean, and crystal clear, with a large number of fish, especially around the rocks at the edge of the small bay, bustling with life. It quickly gets deep, but there is virtually no current. No wonder the locals call this place Gjiri i Akuariumit (Aquarium Bay).
Because of its biodiversity, even dive schools take their students on excursions here. Perhaps a discover scuba diving course could be something for you?
The nearest parking, if you don’t have a 4×4 vehicle, is either at Jale Beach or on the right side of Livadhi Beach. Both are about 1.5 kilometers from Aquarium Beach, and you will need to walk the last part. The hike is flatter and easier from Jale but more scenic from Livadhi.
If you have your own tent, you can camp at Aquarium Beach or the equally beautiful neighboring cove, Gjiri Guma. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves is simply dreamy, and the stars here are incredible.

What makes this pebble beach so special is the fact that it is surrounded by dramatic rock formations that extend into the sea. This gives the beach a sense of seclusion, which is perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of the cities Saranda and Ksamil.
Another highlight is the 14th-century Monastery of Saint George, located on the hill of Dema directly above the beach and from which the beach gets its name. From here, you have a breathtaking view of the Ionian Sea as well as Lake Butrint. So, it’s worth visiting the monastery.
There are many ways to spend an unforgettable beach day here. You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, visit the beach bar, or dine at the “Bar Restorant Monastery Beach.” For the adventurous, there are also water tricycles with large paddle wheels and other water sports equipment available for rent.
How do you get to Monastery Beach? You can take the bus to Butrint and ask the driver to stop at the “Manastiri i Shën Gjergjit” stop, then walk to the beach. Or you can drive from Ksamil or Saranda.
But be warned, this beach can get very crowded during the summer months. However, don’t let that deter you, as this beach is simply too beautiful to miss.

Porto Palermo Beach (Plazhi Gjiri i Palermos) is located in a sheltered bay about six kilometers south of Himara on the Ionian Sea coast and actually consists of several small, unspoiled beaches. The most popular of these beaches, known as Palermo Beach, is situated on a land bridge leading to a peninsula in the Bay of Palermo. Here, you will also find the Porto Palermo Fortress, an impressive structure with a triangular layout and three round bastions, built by Ali Pasha in the early 19th century.
In addition to the historic fortress, there is also a relic from Albania’s communist era—a submarine bunker carved into the mountain, which you can clearly see from the beach. The section of the bay where the bunker is located remains a military restricted area today.
The beautiful beaches themselves are nestled between rugged rocks and have a pebble base. The water is clear and inviting for swimming.
If you get hungry, there is a nice restaurant with fish and meat specialties on the other side of the coastal road SH8, across from the fortress. There are no dining facilities directly on the beach, but this may actually be better to preserve the tranquility and natural beauty of the bay.
Campers can park their caravans on the land bridge in front of the fortress. Porto Palermo Beach is easily accessible by car or bus, as it is right next to the coastal road.

One of the highlights of Bunec Beach is the long pier from which you can jump into the Ionian Sea. It’s an exciting experience you shouldn’t miss! But even if you prefer to relax, you’ll find everything you need here. The beach is located away from tourist spots, making it much quieter than other beaches in the region. Nevertheless, you will find all the amenities you need, including good restaurants like the excellent Restaurant Bushi or Restaurant Mema. There are also spots where you can enjoy complete solitude and the natural beauty of the area.
If you want to spend the night at the beach, there is also a camping area available. Another highlight is the mountain stream that flows into the sea here. A refreshing dip in the cool waters of the stream is another unforgettable experience.
To reach Bunec Beach, it’s best to have a car, as the beach is secluded between the villages of Lukova and Piqeras. But don’t worry, even if you don’t have a car, you can still get to the beach.
